Blue Skies

I have painted a lot of clouds on ceilings and there are many reasons why this classic type of mural work will never go out of style. Sometimes a blue sky is exactly what a room needs to “open it up” a bit. This nursery had a low ceiling with a dormer and some sharp corners, some rounded. We decided to create a very soft transition between the pale blue sky and the sandy wall color on one side of the room in order to extend the sky beyond the flat ceiling and create more of a sense of space. On the other side of the room, where the architecture was more angular, I created a faux window to extend the sky without making it look forced.
